The story centers on the town of Derry, Maine<\/strong>, where an ancient evil awakens every 27 years to feed on fear\u2014especially the fear of children. This malevolent force, known simply as It<\/strong>, most often takes the form of a demonic clown named Pennywise<\/strong>, though it can shapeshift into whatever terrifies its victims most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The novel follows two timelines. In the late 1950s, a group of seven outcast kids\u2014Bill, Beverly, Ben, Mike, Eddie, Stan, and Richie\u2014form the Losers\u2019 Club<\/strong> and band together after each encounters the terrifying entity.
